You are a professional Building Surveyor, equipped with a comprehensive understanding of surveying, maintenance, and building regulations. You have a strong background in providing advice and solutions regarding building conditions and are confident in communicating with clients to discuss issues such as damp, mould, and condensation. Your effective project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects make you an ideal candidate for this role.

What the Job Involves

The Building Surveyor is responsible for ensuring land, buildings, and properties remain safe, operational, and compliant with statutory regulations. The job involves carrying out inspections, condition surveys, and preparing comprehensive reports including defect diagnosis and recommendations. You will handle service delivery management, collaborate with council officers and customers, manage project resources and budgets, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and provide an out-of-hours emergency call-out service. Additionally, the role involves project management, communication with stakeholders, strategy and policy development, and ensuring the accuracy and utility of the asset management database.

Skills

  • Experience in construction and maintenance
  • Project and program management (e.g., Prince2)
  • Proven delivery of minor and major building works
  • Preparation of contracts, specifications, drawings
  • Knowledge of New Rules of Measurement 3
  • Building compliance management
  • Proficient in asset data management software
  • Experience with IT software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
