Context
The post-holder will undertake a variety of tasks that contribute to the delivery of transformation and service improvement in Lambeth Council’s Children, Families and Education Directorate. The role will support improvement project delivery across the directorate, ensuring that a wide-range of evidence is harnessed to enable the implementation of robust, evidence-based improvement initiatives.
Job Purpose
1.1 To identify service development opportunities and implement projects and solutions that deliver measurable improvement to service delivery
1.2 To undertake research and produce appropriate reports, discussion papers, briefings and other documents on behalf of the Programme Manager and when required present them to a range of Children, Families and Education staff
1.3 To work with colleagues across the Children, Families and Education Directorate to identify opportunities for service improvement and develop plans for implementation
1.4 To evaluate impact of improvement initiatives by designing and enabling robust and proportionate monitoring arrangements
Responsibilities
2.1 To effectively manage the delivery of service improvement projects across the Children, Families and Education Directorate, ensuring completion on time and to budget.
2.2 To collate, analyse and present complex data to a variety of audiences to support wider service improvement and effective decision making by senior managers
2.3 To contribute to policy development and make evidence-based recommendations for use by the Children, Families and Education management team.
2.4 To continually review and assess service policy and practice making recommendations for change.
2.5 To develop knowledge and understanding of national and local developments in respect of Children, Families and Education
2.6 To contribute to preparation for external inspections, as directed
2.7 To take a lead role in organising key events for the Department, including Leadership Forums, conferences, seminars and other events as decided by the Director
2.8 Produce regular communication for the Department on service-related issues.
2.9 To work with Learning and Development colleagues to develop and implement a programme of staff training and development to meet changing priorities and emerging practice requirements
2.10 To take an active role in carrying out policy and procedural reviews supporting the Department.
2.11 To be prepared to carry out any varied duties that may be reasonably required to satisfy the needs of the service.

3.2 To take responsibility, relevant to the post, for ensuring that Council statutes and government legislation is upheld. Candidates do not need to be qualified Social Workers but they will need extensive experience of children’s social care, and of recording systems (we have Mosaic).
The role is about reviewing case files, to make sure they are compliant. It will need someone organised, thorough and task focused.
