Who You Are

An experienced payroll professional with a strong knowledge of payroll legislation and payroll ICT systems, ideally gained within a public sector environment. You possess a proven track record of establishing effective working relationships, mentoring colleagues, and managing complex payroll processes. You demonstrate a deep understanding of payroll system functionalities and have a proactive approach to enhancing payroll services.

What the Job Involves

As the Payroll Technical Lead, you will support the delivery of a comprehensive payroll service, managing the end-to-end payroll process to ensure accurate and timely staff payments and compliance with statutory requirements. You will act as the subject matter expert on Oracle Payroll functionality and will work closely with various teams to manage and develop payroll systems. Additionally, you will supervise the outputs of the Payroll Technical Officer, represent the council at payroll forums, and build effective relationships with internal departments and external bodies. Your role will involve driving the payroll service transformation, supporting management, and ensuring strategic alignment with corporate objectives.

Skills

  • Knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Experience with payroll ICT systems, preferably Oracle
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel
  • Experience in developing effective working relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Experience with MI reporting and data analysis
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams
  • Experience in managing complex projects and workloads
  • Understanding of HR information systems and reporting tools
