As the Interim Head of Waste & Green Spaces, you are a dynamic and highly effective leader and manager with significant experience in environmental services. You're adept at developing and implementing strategies to enhance waste and green spaces services while fostering a culture committed to residents first and continuous improvement. You are capable of working collaboratively across council services and with external bodies to drive biodiversity, minimize waste, and decrease carbon emissions. You have a proven track record of successful budget management and public speaking in national settings.
What the Job Involves
Your role involves providing leadership and management to the Waste, Street Cleansing, and Green Spaces Services, ensuring service plans and targets are met efficiently. You will take a strategic lead in delivering council front-line services in compliance with legislation, manage budgets up to £29 million, and develop cost-saving strategies. Responsibilities include overseeing Harlington Road Depot, managing operational areas such as waste and recycling, open spaces, and cemeteries, and ensuring adherence to health and safety and environmental compliance. You will work to improve service delivery, engage in partnership and community involvement, and maintain updated knowledge to inform strategic development. deputizing for the Director of Environment when required and liaising with various stakeholders on multiple fronts are also part of your duties.
