Who You Are

You are an experienced leader with specialist knowledge in the building industry, preferably possessing an HNC in Building Studies or equivalent experience. You demonstrate evidence of continued professional and personal development and have a comprehensive understanding of maintenance and refurbishment contracts, construction-related contracts, and relevant legislation. You are adept at diagnosing complex building defects, managing staff and contractors, and have strong communication and problem-solving skills.

What the Job Involves

The Service Manager will lead and manage a team responsible for maintenance works on the Council's housing stock, ensuring the highest standards are maintained. Responsibilities include delivering comprehensive contracting services, managing operatives, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and resolving customer inquiries. You will oversee income generation and budgetary management, manage divisional contracts, and ensure quality improvement. The role demands flexibility and may involve working outside regular hours and across different locations within the Borough.
