Social Worker - Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)

Who You Are

You are an experienced and dedicated social worker with a recognized qualification and current registration with Social Work England. You have an in-depth understanding of the Mental Health Act, Care Act, and other relevant legislation with a demonstrated ability to work in a person-centered and outcome-focused way. You are committed to developing positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, promoting equality, and supporting organizational change.

What the Job Involves

As part of the Tower Hamlets Centralized AMHP Team, your primary role will be to coordinate and undertake Mental Health Act assessments across various locations. You will process referrals, apply for warrants, and complete police risk assessments. You will work closely with partner agencies to ensure timely assessments and support the reduction of waiting lists for care reviews. The role requires maintaining records, managing risks, and adhering to relevant legislation and guidance.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 (Amended 2007) and relevant guidance
  • Familiarity with national policies, Care Act 2014, and Mental Capacity Act
  • Ability to assess and prioritize referrals effectively
  • Experience in coordinating and conducting assessments
  • Record-keeping and report-writing proficiency
  • Capacity to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Flexible working to accommodate service demands
