Who You Are
You are a legal professional with recent experience in local government prosecutions and criminal litigation. You possess a strong understanding of criminal law and local government law, and are ideally looking for someone with 2 years post-qualification experience (PQE). You should have experience dealing with licensing matters, including the Licensing Act 2003, and preferably experience sitting as a legal adviser to sub-committees.
What the Job Involves
This role involves supporting the Senior Prosecutions Lawyer to ensure a high-quality, cost-effective Prosecutions Service. You will provide legal advice and support to the Council, undertake advocacy, and handle tasks and projects as allocated. Responsibilities include settling pleadings, preparing for hearings, and representing the Council in courts, Tribunals, and inquiries. You will advise on legislative changes, liaise with various external organizations, and support corporate projects and initiatives. Supervising trainees and other staff may also be required.
