Who You Are

You are an experienced legal professional with recent local government experience in prosecutions and criminal litigation. You have a deep understanding of criminal law and local government law, with the ability to provide high-quality legal advice and support. You are adept at handling licensing matters, including those related to the Licensing Act 2003, and ideally hold 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE). Additionally, you have experience acting as a legal adviser to sub-committees.

What the Job Involves

This role involves supporting the Senior Prosecutions Lawyer in delivering an effective and high-quality Prosecutions Service to the Council. You will be responsible for settling pleadings, preparing for hearings, providing legal advice, and representing the Council in courts, tribunals, and inquiries. You are expected to stay updated with legislative changes and case law to offer timely legal support. Responsibilities also include liaising with professional bodies, maintaining client relationships, handling diverse tasks and projects, and meeting performance targets set by the Senior Prosecutions Lawyer. You may have supervisory duties over trainees or other staff and participate in Council committees, recruitment activities, corporate projects, and initiatives.
