You are an individual who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about working with children in vulnerable situations. You possess the ability to quickly build rapport and motivate young individuals at crucial moments. You are committed to the welfare and diversion of youth from further contact with the juvenile justice system.

What the job involves

This role requires in-person attendance at Walworth and Brixton Police Custody Suites, involving shift work to cover operational hours: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 10 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm. As a staff member, you will work 35 hours a week, completing shifts on either a Monday to Friday or Monday to Thursday and Saturday schedule. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with children who have been arrested, conducting short screenings, and discussing diversion support to prevent future incidents. If consented, you will carry out short intervention sessions with caseloads of around 10+, involving 3-5 sessions per intervention, and guide them towards community resources and activities.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Familiarity with Mosaic and Core + recording systems
  • Ability to meet Police Vetting requirements
