A Trading Standards Assistant/Enforcement/Senior/Principal Enforcement Officer employed within the Environmental Services department. You are committed to safeguarding consumers and fostering fair trading practices. You exhibit strong leadership, flexibility, and initiative, and demonstrate professional expertise in handling complex trading standards issues. You are accountable and inspire your team, showing self-confidence and assertiveness in tackling challenges.

What the Job Involves

The role involves enforcing consumer protection legislation to shield consumers from unfair trading practices. Duties include investigating complaints, compiling reports, preparing cases for court, and giving evidence. You will provide advice and support to consumers, businesses, and other stakeholders, participate in outreach activities, and lead in areas of complex practice. Developing specialist skills in agreed topics and maintaining a robust knowledge of applicable legislation is essential.
