You are a committed and skilled finance professional who is either part CCAB qualified, fully qualified AAT, or have equivalent experience in Local Government Finance. You should have a strong understanding of Local Government finance, planning, and organizing, as well as a dedication to personal and professional development. Experience in providing customer-focused finance services and supervising staff is essential, alongside skills in using financial systems and applications.
What the Job Involves
The Lead Accountant plays a pivotal role in contributing to the Council’s objectives by developing systems, advising senior colleagues, and supporting departmental clients. You will provide training, advice, and financial information to assist in decision-making, manage business risks, and ensure effective resource use. The role requires producing and presenting financial reports, promoting efficient resource utilization, supporting service planning, and maintaining financial stewardship. As a change driver, you'll support strategic planning, manage statutory finance services, and improve service quality, while training and supervising staff.
