Role

Who You Are

You are an experienced planning enforcement professional capable of managing a busy and varied caseload of 100+ planning enforcement breaches. You have extensive knowledge of the planning system, legislation, regulations, and policy guidance, and are adept at handling multiple lines of inquiries under pressure. You possess strong organizational skills, learn quickly, and manage competing priorities effectively. Your experience includes dealing with the public, Councillors, and responding to MP inquiries and complaints. You are capable of maintaining clear and accurate records that can be used as legal evidence and can work independently while also collaborating with a team.

What the Job Involves

The role involves managing your own caseload of alleged planning breaches, conducting investigations, site visits, assessing cases against laws and regulations, and making recommendations. You will regularly serve enforcement notices and write appeal statements. You may represent the Council at hearings, inquiries, or in court when necessary. This position includes providing assistance, advice, and support from team leaders and colleagues, with opportunities for ongoing training and skill development. Some evening or weekend work may be required, and you will need to visit the Romford office twice per week for site visits using council-provided vehicles.
