Who You Are

You are an admitted Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with a right of audience in all Proceedings in the County Court or about to gain such a right. You have experience in both residential and commercial property work, especially within Local Government. You possess excellent communication skills, capable of explaining issues and debating legal points pragmatically. Your proactive approach and "can do" attitude enable you to adapt to changing demands while maintaining a commitment to customer care and personal development.

What the Job Involves

As a Property Lawyer, you will be involved in conducting complex and routine conveyancing work, including large acquisitions and disposals using compulsory purchase powers. Tasks include dealing with conveyancing aspects of sales to Council tenants, preparing and serving Notices under the Landlord and Tenant Act, and managing all procedural elements of Compulsory Purchase Orders. Your role will support the Council’s housing and property projects while ensuring compliance with all legal standards and the Council's Customer Care Standards. You will frequently liaise with various internal and external contacts, handle legal inquiries, and appear in Courts or Tribunals on behalf of the Council.

Skills

  • Legal qualifications: Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent
