What the Job Involves
This role involves maintaining parks, gardens, and other spaces in Slough Borough to high horticultural standards. Key responsibilities include grass cutting, hedge and shrub maintenance, litter collection, and the upkeep of ornamental planting features. You'll also prepare sports pitches, apply weed killer, perform minor tree and landscaping works, and inspect and maintain playgrounds. Ensuring safe work practices, liaising professionally with the public, and possibly driving vehicles for transporting materials are also part of the job.
Skills
- Experience with grounds maintenance activities
- Basic knowledge of horticultural tasks
- Able to identify and maintain common plants
- Understanding of safety practices near highways
- Basic numeracy, literacy, and IT skills
- Driving licenses (up to and including 3.5t and 7.5t)
- Lantra/NTPCA certification for tools and equipment
- Physically fit for prolonged outdoor work
- Willingness for flexible work hours including weekends
- Effective communication and record-keeping skills
