You are a dedicated and knowledgeable professional with a degree-level education or three years of demonstrable experience in a relevant specialism. You are committed to protecting and improving public health through food safety. You hold necessary qualifications as listed in the Food Law Code of Practice and have experience inspecting diverse food business establishments for hygiene and standards. You possess excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and can communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with various contacts.
What the Job Involves
As a Senior Food Safety Officer, your role is to deliver high-quality technical professional services aimed at protecting and enhancing the health and wellbeing of residents, workers, and visitors in the Borough. You will provide assistance, advice, and use statutory powers for enforcement actions to maintain professional and legal standards in food safety. Your responsibilities include inspecting food premises, investigating hygiene and safety issues, engaging in enforcement actions, and preparing and presenting reports. You will participate in health and safety operations, deliver food hygiene training, and foster communication with stakeholders. The position requires flexibility to accommodate changing priorities, providing technical support and knowledge sharing for continuous service improvement.
