- Is tenacious, persistent, resilient, and excellent at developing positive relationships with young people, their families and partner agencies.
- Has an understanding of the issues young people have who are faced with homelessness.
- Understands the legislation relating to homeless young people.
What the Job Involves
- Work in partnership with children and families to address their social, emotional, and environmental needs.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of the most vulnerable children and young people through high-quality service delivery.
- Assess risks and needs for vulnerable children, delivering services to improve their quality of life.
- Co-ordinate services for the best outcomes for children, young people, and families/carers ensuring appropriate resource use.
- Collect and maintain accurate records and update systems confidentially and in line with legislation.
- Participate in meetings, court representations, and the supervision process as required.
Skills
- Significant experience of working with children and families.
- Specialist knowledge of social work theories and practice.
- Detailed knowledge of legislation and child development.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to relate to various people.
- Organisational skills, handling multiple priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good IT skills and assessment skills for complex family situations.
- Liaison and negotiation skills with other agencies and service users.
