Who You Are

If you are someone who:

  • Shares our passion for working with 16 and 17-year-old young people and their families and has a determination to achieve positive outcomes for them.
  • Is tenacious, persistent, resilient, and excellent at developing positive relationships with young people, their families and partner agencies.
  • Has an understanding of the issues young people have who are faced with homelessness.
  • Understands the legislation relating to homeless young people.

What the Job Involves

  • Work in partnership with children and families to address their social, emotional, and environmental needs.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of the most vulnerable children and young people through high-quality service delivery.
  • Assess risks and needs for vulnerable children, delivering services to improve their quality of life.
  • Co-ordinate services for the best outcomes for children, young people, and families/carers ensuring appropriate resource use.
  • Collect and maintain accurate records and update systems confidentially and in line with legislation.
  • Participate in meetings, court representations, and the supervision process as required.

Skills

  • Significant experience of working with children and families.
  • Specialist knowledge of social work theories and practice.
  • Detailed knowledge of legislation and child development.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to relate to various people.
  • Organisational skills, handling multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good IT skills and assessment skills for complex family situations.
  • Liaison and negotiation skills with other agencies and service users.
