Role

Who You Are

You are an experienced social work professional with a minimum of three years post-qualification experience in children and families work. You have two years of statutory work experience, including child protection. With a strong background in child care legislation, family court procedures, and child protection training, you are skilled in planning, managing, and improving service delivery. You are committed to delivering a professional, child-centered service in partnership with all key stakeholders, ensuring the highest standards of safety and well-being for children. You uphold the council’s values, promote equality of opportunity, and act as a corporate parent role model.

What the Job Involves

  • Provide operational and financial leadership and management to a multidisciplinary social work team within the Family Services – Social Care sector.
  • Ensure a holistic assessment of children’s needs and deliver services to meet these needs in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Manage complex issues effectively, develop responsive services, and ensure safety and welfare in emergency situations.
  • Coordinate care proceedings, manage delegated budgets, and contribute to strategic development and planning within the service.
  • Foster effective partnerships with agencies, monitor service delivery, and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
