What the Job Involves

As an Income Officer, you will be part of a busy Rent Service Team, responsible for maximizing rent and arrears collection for a designated 'patch' of residential and non-residential accounts. Your duties include managing housing income accounts, managing rent arrears cases, providing person-centred housing income collection service, and ensuring strict adherence to pre-court action protocols. You will aim to meet collection targets while addressing the needs of vulnerable residents by providing advice and making referrals to support agencies. Additionally, you will identify and implement good practices for arrears recovery within the team.

Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of tenancy management and legal housing management aspects
  • Experience in managing rent arrears cases
  • Ability to deal with difficult customers calmly and professionally
  • Analytical and organized, with attention to detail
  • Experience with Northgate and other office software packages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive in intervention and prevention strategies for arrears
  • Understanding of welfare benefits and tenancy support
  • Commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
