Who You Are
A qualified and experienced Adults Social Worker or Care Manager focused on learning disabilities. You are compassionate, skilled, and committed to promoting independence, dignity, and choice for adults with complex needs. You are knowledgeable about the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
What the Job Involves
As a member of Westminster City Council's Learning Disabilities team, you will conduct statutory reviews of care and support packages, ensuring person-centred and empowering support for individuals with learning disabilities. You will collaborate with residents, families, and providers to assess needs, promote less restrictive living arrangements, and develop person-centred support plans.
Your responsibilities include applying the Mental Capacity Act 2005, undertaking mental capacity and risk assessments, safeguarding adults, and providing professional guidance to support informed decision-making. You will work at least three days a week from the office to support collaboration and team development.
Skills
- Qualified Social Worker or equivalent, with relevant registration
- Experience with adults with learning disabilities and complex needs
- Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Strong safeguarding principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
