You are a detail-oriented professional with experience in council tax debt collection, confident in communicating with customers to clarify arrears and secure payments. You hold a good standard of education, at least equivalent to GCSE, with pass grades in Mathematics and English. You bring experience in using ICT software and email, maintaining confidentiality, and working within a financial environment in a large organization. You are adept at understanding and applying legislation, following structured processes, managing your workload independently, and handling complex situations both face-to-face and over the phone. You demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellent customer service and possess strong communication skills for interacting with colleagues, customers, and external organizations.

What the Job Involves

The role of Revenues Officer within the Recovery Team involves delivering an efficient and effective revenue collections and recovery service, ensuring council tax information is processed promptly and accurately from various sources. You will be responsible for setting up accounts, applying reliefs, discounts, and exemptions, and instigating recovery procedures as necessary. You will handle inquiries from taxpayers via phone, email, letter, or in person, adhering to customer care standards. Furthermore, you will support court-related activities, assist with complex complaint resolution, and engage in specialist recovery projects. You will maintain a deep understanding of relevant legislation and support initiatives to improve service delivery and maximize revenue collection.
