Who You Are

We are looking for a Payroll Assistant who excels in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment, possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team to deliver high-quality customer-focused services. The ideal candidate will have experience in business support and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. Experience with payroll processes or a working knowledge of HR/Payroll SAP is desirable but not essential.

What the Job Involves

The Payroll Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery of an accurate and efficient payroll service across the Council. Key responsibilities include:

  • Submitting both permanent and temporary payroll data through the SAP system.
  • Assisting with checking and reconciliation of output reports.
  • Responding to payroll queries from staff via email, telephone, and in person.
  • Attending payroll administrative meetings and providing support, including minute taking.
  • Organising and prioritising workload to meet service standards and deadlines.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge to effectively use IT systems and promote automation.
