What the Job Involves
Your role as a Principal Planning Officer – Development Management involves undertaking all aspects of development management to achieve quality planning decisions promptly. You will manage a caseload of pre-application enquiries, planning permissions, and appeals, including complex and major applications. You will act as a case officer, project manage strategic development sites, and represent the Planning Services at committees and public inquiries. Responsibilities include negotiating community benefits, providing planning advice, ensuring compliance with performance indicators, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of planning regulations. You will also provide mentoring and guidance to junior staff and liaise with internal and external partners.
Skills
- Degree or equivalent in Planning or related field
- Excellent knowledge of planning legislation and regulations

- Ability to manage time and workloads effectively
