Who You Are

Lewisham Council seeks an experienced and energetic adult mental health social worker to join the Neighbourhood 1 Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). Our team, situated in the heart of Deptford with excellent transport links and a vibrant community, supports adults of working age with serious long-term mental health conditions.

What the Job Involves

The social worker will act as a care coordinator in collaboration with colleagues from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation and the voluntary sector. Responsibilities include holding a caseload of people on CPA, covering the team duty rota, and leading on adult safeguarding and Care Act assessments within the multi-disciplinary team.

Skills

  • Commitment to culturally-informed and anti-oppressive practice
  • Substantial experience in adult mental health casework
  • Strong assessment and engagement skills
  • Understanding of strengths-based approaches to social care
  • Knowledge of the social and clinical needs of adults with serious mental illness
  • Experience in risk assessment and management
  • Experience with CA 2014, MHA 1983, and MCA 2005 frameworks
  • Strong awareness of adult safeguarding
  • Ability to manage a caseload in a fast-paced, integrated service
  • Experience with various assessments and psych-social interventions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
