Role

Who You Are

You are an experienced professional in managing legal liability aspects and procedures, with a strong ability to defend and minimize financial risks for the Authority. Your expertise includes handling Disrepair claims, Personal Injury claims, Statutory Nuisance, and tenant compensation claims. You possess excellent analytical skills and can make informed decisions in challenging situations, utilizing initiative to resolve issues effectively.

What the Job Involves

As the Lead Officer for the department, you will conduct detailed specialist surveys of dwellings, prepare contract specifications, and manage contractors to achieve quality standards while ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities include thoroughly investigating Housing Disrepair claims and allocated Personal Injury claims, conducting detailed interviews with claimants, and preparing reports for Insurers and Solicitors. You will also act as the Instructing Officer in negotiating settlements for these claims. Additionally, you will monitor and report on Housing Department claims related to damp issues, providing updates to Senior Management. As the designated Expert Witness, you will attend court in support of the Council's case, ensuring the provision of all necessary documentation and information.
