Who You Are

You are a strategic finance professional with a deep understanding of public sector financial management, particularly in the Housing Revenue Account (HRA). You thrive in complex environments and are adept at translating complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders. You have the ability to influence senior management, build partnerships, and manage a finance team effectively while driving strategic financial plans aligned with the council's objectives.

What the Job Involves

The Strategic Finance Business Partner will oversee the revenue side of the Housing Revenue Account, actively contributing towards budget proposals and the HRA 30-year Business Plan. You will work closely with finance and service colleagues, as well as the Capital Finance Business Partnering Team, to ensure financial strategies and monitoring positions are aligned. You will manage the year-end close down of the HRA and support the preparation of statement of accounts. Additionally, you'll be responsible for leading a small finance team, supporting, developing, and mentoring your team members.

Skills

• Fully qualified Accountant (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
• Experience in managing substantial budgets
• Knowledge of local government financial regulations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong practical application
• Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
• Experience in the final account preparation and year-end close
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
