Role

Who You Are

You are passionate about relationship-based social work and proud of your profession. You have the ability to reflect and think creatively about building impactful relationships with children and families. As a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, you possess substantial experience in working with children and families, addressing complex needs and risks, and mentoring less experienced colleagues. You are open to flexible working options and hold a full driving license with access to your own vehicle, as travel is required.

What the Job Involves

This short-term position provides cover in our Family Safeguarding team, focusing on supporting children and families at the Child In Need level. Your work will focus on progressing their plans toward stepping down or closure to Children's Social Care. You will collaborate with adult-focused practitioners in areas such as substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health to inform assessments and plans. By working with manageable caseloads, you will undertake direct work with children and young people to capture their voices and understanding. Supported by permanent Team Managers, regular group and personal supervision will be available to you.

Your role will include working with parents and the wider family network, utilizing tools like Family Group Conferencing to support families in identifying strengths and areas for improvement. As we continue to enhance our use of motivational interviewing, you will support families in identifying opportunities for change alongside our multi-agency partners. Position is based in Bridgwater with up-to-date technology provided for virtual meetings and service sessions.
