The ideal candidate is an Environmental Health Practitioner with a commitment to providing expert advice and enforcement within the field of environmental health and licensing. You will have a strong professional background, preferably with relevant qualifications, and a comprehensive understanding of legal, technical, and professional matters in Environmental Health. You are self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working both independently and within a team to address complex problems and ensure compliance with legislation.
What the Job Involves
This short-term role involves delivering environmental health and licensing services over 5 days, with an emphasis on disciplines such as Food and Safety, Private Sector Housing, or Environmental Protection. Responsibilities include inspecting, auditing, and enforcing legislation, conducting monitoring and sampling, collecting evidence for legal proceedings, and providing policy support. You will engage with stakeholders, deliver operational planning assistance, and contribute to policy development. The position involves occasional unsocial and weekend hours and requires the ability to travel across the County.
Skills
- BSc (Hons) or MSc in Environmental Health, or equivalent experience
- Authorised Officer as per FSA Code of Practice
- Up-to-date knowledge of Environmental Health legislation
- Understanding of PACE and RIPA
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships
- Strong organizational and decision-making abilities
- Self-motivated and works effectively within a team
- Driving license and vehicle or the ability to travel
