Who You Are
Somerset Council is looking for a passionate and dedicated Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. You should have at least 3 years’ experience working with children and families within a Local Authority, particularly involving Children Looked After and Leaving Care. You are committed to relationship-based social work and possess a creative mindset to help young people develop their independence. A competent IT user, you should be able to use or quickly learn LiquidLogic. Additionally, a full driving license and access to your own vehicle are necessary, as travel within Somerset and beyond is required.
What the Job Involves
This unique short-term (12 weeks) locum position involves working as a Leaving Care Personal Advisor alongside an allocated Social Worker to support young people aged 16+ transitioning from residential homes to supported accommodation, aligning with their care/pathway plans. You'll also perform Social Work statutory duties and Leaving Care statutory duties. Occasionally, you may offer short-term support for other young people, ensuring they remain the primary focus. The role encompasses responsibilities of both a Qualified Social Worker and a Leaving Care Worker.
