Who You Are
We are seeking passionate, proactive, and skilled Family Practitioners to join Lewisham Council's Prevention & Early Help Team. You should have a minimum of 2 years' experience working with families facing multiple challenges such as mental health issues, domestic abuse, or housing difficulties.
You have a strong understanding of evidence-based intervention strategies, restorative, and trauma-informed practices. You possess strong skills in mediation, conflict resolution, and direct work with families in crisis.
What the Job Involves
As a Family Practitioner, you will provide intensive, family-centred support to vulnerable children, young people, and their families in the family home and community. You will undertake holistic assessments and develop action plans to address challenges, facilitate decision-making, and deliver evidence-based interventions.
Your role involves building trusting relationships with families, extended networks, and communities, collaborating with multi-disciplinary partners, and maintaining high standards of case recording and reporting. You will work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of families.
Skills
- Experience as a Family Support Worker or Family Practitioner
- Knowledge of evidence-based intervention strategies
- Mediation and conflict resolution skills
- Direct work with families in crisis
- Familiarity with Early Help Assessments and TAF
- Understanding of restorative and trauma-informed practices
