Who You Are
You are an experienced professional with a strong understanding of Information Laws and governance. You are committed to ensuring compliance with various legislations, including the Data Protection Act 2018, UK-GDPR, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
What the Job Involves
The role involves overseeing the Council's compliance with Information Laws. You will support the development, management, and delivery of the Council's Information Governance Strategy and work programs. You will oversee data processing practices to ensure they meet statutory requirements, provide advice, guidance, and audit for compliance with legislation, and manage relationships with the Information Commissioner as the Supervisory Authority. The role includes leading investigations and assessments of suspected data breach incidents and data complaints. You will provide support, information, advice, and guidance to the Council, escalating issues to the Information Governance Lead where risks may impact the Council's compliance obligations.
