Who You Are
As a Planning Officer, you are tasked with the assessment of planning applications in alignment with the National Planning Policy Framework and local planning policies. You are based at the Civic Centre, Esher, under the supervision of a Team Leader. You are committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct in line with the Council’s policies on equality, health and safety, and confidentiality. Possessing relevant qualifications and experience in development management is desirable, and you're expected to actively engage in personal and professional development.
What the Job Involves
Your role involves handling a caseload of planning applications, drafting recommendation reports, offering advice to the public, and preparing Council cases for appeals. You assist senior officers on major projects, engage in study for a recognized Planning qualification, and remain updated on Planning Law. As an employee, you are expected to participate in the Council's talent development programme and contribute to providing high-quality services.
