What the job involves
The Coroner’s Officer supports the Coroner’s Service in investigating sudden, unexplained, violent or unnatural deaths, including those in custody or state detention. This role involves managing cases from initial referral to conclusion, ensuring all enquiries meet legal standards and contribute to public safety. Key responsibilities include case investigation and management, family liaison, inquest preparation and court support, and maintaining close communication with partner agencies and bereaved families throughout the process.
