Who You Are
We are looking for a confident, independent, and effective Deputy Manager to join our new Children’s Home in Cardiff, working with some of our most vulnerable children and young people. You should have proven experience at a senior level in a residential childcare environment and hold a relevant qualification meeting the criteria for Social Care Wales registration along with a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People).
What the job involves
As Deputy Officer in Charge, you will lead, inspire, motivate, and develop the home, its staff, and the wellbeing of the young people we serve. You will assist in managing and administering the home, ensuring all regulatory standards are met and providing excellent care quality. Key responsibilities include ensuring the needs of young people are met, empowering their independence, building positive family and community relationships, maintaining staff competence, and managing budgets effectively. You will also coordinate, attend, and chair meetings, ensuring the inclusion and achievement of objectives.
Skills
- Proven senior-level experience in residential childcare
- Relevant qualification for Social Care Wales registration
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care
- Excellent communication and organisation
- Knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016
- Budget monitoring and management
- Understanding of child development and young people's needs
- Ability to undertake and complete assessments
- Experience with a Behaviour support model of care
- Ability to plan, organise, prepare reports, and chair meetings
- Experience in managing staff
- Understanding duty of care and safeguarding
- Problem solving and decision making
