Job Title: Recycling Advisor
Who You Are
- Possess a good general education (e.g., GCSEs or equivalent)
- Have experience working directly with the public through outreach, community engagement, sales, or advisory work
- Aware of recycling, food waste, and wider environmental issues (training can be provided)
- Trained in customer service, community engagement, or sustainability
- Able to accurately record and report data (e.g., surveys, CRM systems, Excel)
- A confident communicator capable of engaging with diverse residents politely and persuasively
- Possess good observational and problem-solving skills for identifying local recycling barriers
- Adaptable to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
- Have basic IT skills for recording survey results and producing reports
- Enthusiastic with a positive attitude toward environmental sustainability
- Respectful, approachable, and able to quickly build trust
- Flexible with working hours and physically able to cover large distances and work outdoors
- Aligned with NLWA’s values and meet its standard requirements
What the Job Involves
- Increasing participation in recycling services and reducing contamination via direct resident and business engagement
- Conducting property surveys and door-to-door visits to promote proper recycling habits
- Providing tailored advice and practical recycling information to residents
- Monitoring recycling participation levels and capturing resident feedback
- Identifying areas needing further intervention or targeted campaigns
- Distributing recyclable information materials
- Supporting communication campaigns and feeding in local insights
- Maintaining accurate records of engagement activities and feedback
- Collaborating with collections, communications, and enforcement teams to address recycling challenges
