Job Description: Income Officer
Who You Are
As an Income Officer within the Resources Directorate, you are responsible for managing debt collection efficiently and effectively. You are expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide customer-focused services while ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements. You play a vital role in helping care experienced young people navigate their housing needs, with a strong understanding of homelessness legislation and welfare benefits expertise.
What the Job Involves
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Working with Children Services and partner agencies to support care experienced young people in their housing journey.
- Managing the Universal Credit Housing Element sign-up process for semi-independent accommodation.
- Ensuring housing benefit/universal credit arrangements for tenancies are in place.
- Maintaining rent accounts and managing invoicing and debt collection for the council.
- Collaborating with Team Leader and other departments to optimize debt recovery processes.
- Enhancing service delivery through process automation and software testing.
- Engaging with external bodies and service users to ensure comprehensive support and solutions for housing issues.
- Monitoring performance and adhering to health and safety policies.
