Interim Commercial Property Lawyer Westminster City Council (Bi-borough Legal Service) Contract | £400 per day (Umbrella) Location: London (Hybrid working) About the Role Westminster City Council, working in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, is seeking an Interim Commercial Property Lawyer to join its established Bi-borough Legal Service. This role will provide essential cover for a permanent vacancy, handling a varied caseload of commercial property matters and supporting the delivery of key legal services across both councils. Working under the supervision of Principal Solicitors, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, timely legal advice to internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Provide professional legal advice on a wide range of commercial property matters Manage a personal caseload of routine files, with some more complex matters supported by senior lawyers Draft, review and negotiate: Leases and licences Transfers and agreements General property documentation

Support client departments with clear, practical legal guidance Prepare and advise on reports for council decision-making Attend internal and external meetings as required Ensure compliance with local authority governance and procedural requirements Instruct Counsel or external solicitors where appropriate Maintain accurate case management records and meet time recording expectations Keep up to date with relevant legal developments

About You Essential Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX (Fellow/Associate) Strong experience in commercial property law Ability to manage a caseload independently with minimal supervision Strong drafting and communication skills

Desirable Previous local authority or public sector experience Understanding of local government processes and governance
