Business Support Officer (Gr D/E)

A Business Support Officer within the Customer Fulfilment service is needed to support the Planning/Development Management service for Kingston Council.
The training period may require being on site 5 days a week, based at Kingston Council offices, in central Kingston upon Thames. After successful completion of training, hybrid working will be considered (with 2-3 days in the office per week).
Key tasks will include:
Triage emails for the Development Management/Planning service
Add cases onto the Uniform and DMS systems and categorise documents
Chase missing documents and payments to ensure applications are valid
Communicate effectively with officers to ensure residents can be kept up to date
General business administration tasks
We are looking for an experienced self starter to join a friendly and busy team with:
Good IT skills - Essential
General administrative skills - Essential
Experience of working for a local authority - Desirable
Experience of supporting a Planning service or a service with a statutory remit - Desirable
Google Suite (gmail/google docs/sheets) is used by Kingston Council- Desirable
Interviews will be remote/virtual
For an initial contract of 3 months starting Mon 13 July 2026
