Team Manager – 16+ Care and Care Leavers Service We are looking to recruit an immediately available interim Team Manager for our 16 plus Care Leavers Service to play a key role in ensuring care leavers in Southwark are safe and happy. This is an initial 3 month role to cover a period of absence for the current Team Manager although there may be scope for that to be extended. We are looking for someone to be part of a team dedicated to making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of young people as we support their journey into adulthood. About Us: Our Children's Services is dedicated to providing outstanding support to vulnerable children and families in Southwark. Our systemic informed, relationship-based approach prioritises the needs of each child, to manage risk, promote positive outcomes, and create lasting change. Our Ofsted inspection was graded as ‘good’ in all areas. The children in our care said we are a “special council and are like a family to themâ€. About the Team: Our team consists of friendly, dedicated and experienced professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact. Each member contributes to a high support, high challenge culture where we hold ourselves and each other accountable. We have a robust management group and a dedicated team of Experienced Practitioners with specialisms in housing, youth support, substance misuse, social capital, and education, employment, and training (EET). Our team also benefits from clinical links to support reflective practice and professional growth in each team. About the Role: As the Team Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and guiding a team of caseworkers who are responsible for the welfare of care leavers. This particular team includes holding oversight of our qualifying care leavers and our 21+ returnee pathway. Your role will involve:
Managing a fast paced environment, safeguarding and creatively managing risks with key partners.
Ensure that our young people experience safety, security and support to gain life skills, in order to successfully transition into adulthood.
Showing leadership to shape the team’s approach with clear expectations and standards for corporate parenting to meet individual needs
Managing our 21+ hub and oversight of our qualifying care leavers
Direct line management of 6 Personal Advisors in the team.
Part of the duty rota providing management cover for care and leaving care teams.
About You: To be successful in this role, we are looking for an individual possessing:
Strong knowledge of leaving care legislation and entitlements.
The ability to lead a team.
Exceptional organisational skills.
The ability to supervise and track progress effectively, with a keen focus on building capacity within teams to meet the needs of our care leavers.
Strong relationship and communication skills.
A passion for delivering high-quality care and able to collaborate with partner agencies.
