Service Area City Services Service Team Parks Responsible to Head Park Ranger Areas of Responsibility Parks Number of staff responsible for None Political Restricted Role (refer to special conditions section) No DBS Required No Job Evaluation Proforma (to be completed by a manager only when creating a new job or amending an existing role) JOB PURPOSE All rangers, on a rota basis will be responsible for visiting playground areas & Leisure Provision under the control of Newport City Council on a daily basis and carry out Risk assessments / safety inspections to meet the requirement of the European Safety Standards EN1176. To ensure the efficient operation and provision of all facilities within Newport Parks.
KEY RESULT AREAS
To open and close the facilities as required To maintain a high standard of security of all buildings and associated ancillary areas. To liaise with facility users to ensure they gain maximum benefit from the use of the facilities.
To ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained at all times. To ensure the good behaviour of members and visitors using the facilities. To carry out basis gardening maintenance in the ornamental parks and open spaces To prepare for and clean up after organised events. To complete and record statutory testing in NCC buildings
To open and close the splash park, and ensure all operational / maintenance tasks are completed in line with the risk assessment

PERSON SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Qualifications Good standard of general education. Knowledge of H&S in play environment Operational Playground Inspectors Qualification Current Fist Aid certificate Hold a full drivers licence Knowledge Must have the ability to work on own initiative and without supervision. To be a good team player To be phsyically fit and able to complete the duties required. Be flexible in the hours of work to meet the needs of the service. Ability to commit to personal development and training as a means to improving personal skills and service delivery
Experience Able to demonstrate record keeping skills. Prior experience in a similar environment. Experience in manual handling Aptitude & Skills Must be able to demonstrate good communication skills. Good time keeper Have an understanding of a wide range of sporting activities. Able to be assertive as the need dictates EXPECTED BEHAVIOURS & VALUES
