Job Description
Job Title Technical Support Officer Grade Hay 5 Business Unit Waste and Cleansing Department Environment, Neighbourhoods & Growth
Purpose of the job
To assist the Southwark Policy and Business Support management team in the technical provision, organising and co-ordination of resources by providing all necessary administration support
Principal accountabilities
Provide administrative support to the Commercial Waste service.
Data entry and processing, filing, photocopying and shredding.
Receiving, sorting, distributing incoming and outgoing post.
Organising stationery and stores for the service including keeping up-to-date inventories.
Inter-office/departmental liaison e.g. providing/getting information from other sections.
Face to face customer relations and back up cover for the hygiene services team.
Initiating correspondence where appropriate.

Contact with tenants, leaseholders, councillors and MPs. Grade/Conditions of Service: Grade : 5 Contractual hours: 36 hours, Monday to Friday
Person Specification
Knowledge, including educational qualifications:
Educated to GCSE standard with appropriate word processing qualification. Knowledge of workplace processes required to maintain recognised performance and quality measurement standards Experience of working in an administrative capacity in either the private or public sector. Experience of developing and maintaining efficient office management and records systems and procedures. Experience of working within a multi-discipline team Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively prioritise and meet deadlines when faced with conflicting priorities. Ability to initiate and carry out work independently as well as working as part of a team. Good written and oral skills. Ability to produce complex reports and take meeting minutes,( noting key tasks, participants, responsibilities and action points arising from staff, residents or other meetings.) Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to deal with a wide range of individuals both internally and externally. Ability to accurately input data to business systems. Ability to use and produce documents using IT applications including word-processing, spreadsheets and databases. Well organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage company priorities
