Role Description Post Title: Quality Assurance & Reviewing Officer (Children’s Qualified Social Worker Scale) Safeguarding Manager Purpose:  To lead on Quality Assurance of CSC and To review plans for children who are subject to CP, LAC, CE procedures and strategy meetings.  Responsibilities & Outcomes:  To Lead on the Quality Assurance of practices across services within CSC to ensure a quality service is provided to Children.  Support the Multi agency safeguarding partnership in audit, learning and development to promote a high quality multi-agency response to keeping children safe. Report findings of audits to Senior leadership team and multi-agency partnership. To ensure that good practice is known, recognised and implemented by the partnership ensuring children receive consistent and high-quality support. To scrutinise and challenge partners to ensure the needs of children are met at the right time Contribute to the development of safeguarding strategies, policies and procedures to ensure the safeguarding of all children. To contribute to the LA’s strategic plan, delivering on areas within the service area and supporting delivery in other areas as appropriate. Maintain the audit action log ensuring that actions are progressed and learning across services is shared. Drive practice standards across services. To Chair Child Protection Conferences, Looked after children reviews and other Safeguarding meetings, including meetings following the sudden and unexpected death of a child and strategy meetings, following an allegation of abuse against a professional or carer. To fulfil the IRO statutory responsibility to resolve problems by negotiation with power to refer a case to CAFCASS, whether an appropriate adult is able and willing to provide such assistance or bring proceedings on the child’s behalf.  To monitor the implementation of recommendations from safeguarding/review meetings utilising the tracking and mid point review process and ensure identification of concerns about practice and provide challenge as appropriate.  To use the practice alert and escalation process to identify good practice and alert to an area of development and action To provide advice and guidance across the Department and key partner agencies for all Safeguarding and Looked After Children issues. To participate in regional development groups to share and develop best practice: NWQA, CP and IRO northwest chairs group, Northwest and national LADO group Contribute to the development of the Safeguarding and LAC agenda including developing and delivering training across the Partnership. To work with groups of children and young people to develop the participation agenda.
