Essential Skills / Knowledge: Degree level or equivalent in Social Work Knowledge of the legislative requirements placed on Services for Children & Young People Detailed knowledge of the legislation pertaining to area of operation Understanding of how changes in the economic, political, social and organisational climate can impact on the organisation Sound understanding of the safeguarding agenda
Primary Role Purpose: To have high expectations and provide support and challenge in relation to CYPFS practice and outcomes for the children and young people of Plymouth. Leadership and management of an experienced and knowledgeable team of Independent Child Protection Chairs and Independent Reviewing Officers committed to Plymouth’s children and young people. Effectively manage the child protection processes and procedures alongside the chairs and support a developing culture of excellence. Lead responsibility for quality assurance and audit processes and activity. This work should enable services to understand and evidence what is working well, what we should be worried about and support the identification alongside operational colleagues of the next steps that might address the identified issues or changes required. Lead quality assurance and audit activity as part of a team committed to providing excellence for children and families.
