Candidate Must have experience of working as a legal assistant/paralegal Must have minimum of 2 years experience  working with childcare law dealing public law care proceedings and private law contact /residence  disputes Must have experience of working in a local authority Full time role, 5 days a week. Must be able to work in office a minimum of 2 days a week in Southwark Town Hall - Tooley Street, near London Bridge.

Job description with Responsibilities

To support childcare lawyers and senior childcare lawyers and Head of Team

Draft applications and issue court proceedings

Redacting documents

Managing bundles and ensuring updated in accordance with court directions adn upcoming hearings

Liaise with court, upload documents and bundles to fpl and other case management systems

File and serve document's on court and on parties

Take instructions form clients to assist lawyers

Minute taking, where required

Obtaining and instructing counsel

Completing police disclosure protocolar requests

To work effectively and respond constructively in changing circumstances, working practices and procedures for the services provided, ensuring continuous improvement.

Hold a caseload of section 7 and 37 and general advice matters with minimal supervision.

Support lawyers in obtaining documentation and instructions from clients in  accordance with court orders

Diarising court hearings and meetings

Assist lawyer in drafting letters of instructions to expert

Assist in the preparation of cases for court, tribunals etc. and attend court where necessary.

To maintain client records and archive systems, in accordance with department procedure, policy and statutory requirement.

Provide legal assistant support on Duty

To respond to legal questions arising from the work of team including, where necessary, lawyers and/or counsel.

To maintain the improvement in equal opportunities in employment and service delivery.
