Role

The Family Intervention Team (FIT) is primarily responsible for all the Child Protection work undertaken within Flintshire Children Services whilst the children remain on the Child Protection Register. Furthermore, the Family Intervention Team will be responsible for the oversight and management of most of the Court applications made by Children Services teams. Cases will remain in the Family Intervention Team until a plan of permanence is identified. If children’s cases proceed through to the Adoption route, then they will remain within FIT. However, should the child/ren remain in the Looked After Children system as their long-term arrangements, then the case will transfer to the Permanency Team after the conclusion of the Court proceedings.  The main focus for the Child Protection Team is to re-evaluate previous assessments made and dependent on the status / outcome of the assessment at this stage, the children’s names will eventually be removed from the Child Protection register and either the case will be closed, downgraded and transferred back to the Targeted Support Team. Or otherwise, escalated as the threshold for significant harm has been identified, with the child and their family being introduced into the PLO arena or the requirement of a care plan approved by the Court.
