Main Accountabilities
To complete Education Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs) allocated by the Principal Educational Psychologist (PEP). These assessments will be face to face unless there are sound reasons related to the child or young person that makes this impossible.
The assessment will be based on evidence informed practice and be relevant to the child or young person’s age, aptitude, culture and presenting need.
To undertake Education Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs) and complete the written report within five weeks of the SEND team issuing a go ahead for the EHC needs assessment to commence. The format of the report will follow the prescribed template.
To submit the EHCNA report to the EP allocated to quality assure the report one week prior to the submission date for quality assurance. 5. To liaise with parents/carers, educational settings and relevant professionals as required to gather information necessary to complete high-quality EHC needs assessments.
Person Specification Essential Desirable
Education/Qualifications Post graduate qualification in Educational Psychology
Experience At least two years post qualification as a practicing Educational Psychologist .
Skills/Knowledge Ability to write concise, analytical and outcome-focused psychological advice for EHC needs assessments. Evidence based practice and assessment as it applies to children and young people with barriers to their education. Data collection and analysis as it relates to assessment IT skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of statutory assessments to agreed timescales.
Purpose Details
Service Purpose The service supports the LA in meeting its statutory duties in regard to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) individually and strategically . The service supports educational settings to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND or barriers to their progress and well-being. At all times to promote and safeguard the welfare of children who live or access services in, or who are looked after by, Wokingham Borough Council
Role Purpose To support the Local Authority in meeting its statutory duties through the timely completion of high-quality Educational Psychology advice for Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments.
Supervision and Relationships
Supervision Received Will participate in the EPS quality assurance process by submitting EHCNA reports at least one week before the submission date for quality assurance purposes.
