Who You Are
An Inquiries and Decisions Officer with experience working with vulnerable members of the public in a housing, health, or social care field within a diverse inner-city environment. You have a clear understanding of the complexity of needs presented by homeless applicants, both singles and families, and can work empathetically and in a trauma-informed way.
What the Job Involves
Your key responsibilities include ensuring the Housing Needs and Strategy service is seen as the best in the country, placing residents at the heart of services, and promoting the spirit of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You will be responsible for assessment, inquiries, and main duty decisions regarding homelessness and assist with clearing the homeless decisions backlog. You are expected to operate to the highest professional customer care standards, participate in case conferences, and support council initiatives for complex and vulnerable persons. Additionally, you will ensure responsibilities regarding the safeguarding of adults and children are met, prevent housing fraud, make referrals to support agencies, and assist with the provision of information in response to inquiries from councillors and ombudsman.
