Who You Are
This role is for a locum social worker within the Children Looked After Team in Shepton Mallet, Mendip. You will be a part of a settled team, working with children aged 0 to 18 across the UK. The team is also Somerset's dedicated unit for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC).
What the Job Involves
You will be responsible for building trusting relationships with children and families using strengths-based and trauma-informed practice. You will be allocated a mixed age range of children with varying levels of complexity and carry out high-quality, child-centred assessments to safeguard them. Your role will involve completing statutory responsibilities such as home visits, preparing reports and documentation for courts and decision-making forums, and maintaining high-quality records. Additionally, you will promote equality and children's rights, participate in duty work, and contribute to service improvement.

- Knowledge of social care practice and legislation
- Experience in social care within a multi-disciplinary setting
- Partnership working with other agencies
- Strong IT and communication skills
- Ability to manage sensitive situations
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
