Who You Are

You are an experienced legal professional with a strong background in employment and education law. You are a qualified solicitor, barrister, or FILEX with relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in local government. You are knowledgeable in handling complex legal cases and have experience in advocacy and advising committees. You are also skilled in supervising and managing junior staff.

What the Job Involves

Your responsibilities include providing high-quality legal advice and support to the council on employment and education-related matters. You will undertake various legal tasks such as preparing for hearings, settling pleadings, and representing the council in courts and tribunals. You will stay updated with changes in legislation, liaise with professional bodies, and maintain effective relationships with client departments. Additionally, you will assist in developing IT systems for the team and ensure performance targets are met.
