What the Job Involves
The Senior Planning Enforcement Officer is responsible for coordinating and prioritizing enforcement activities within the Development Management directorate of Somerset Council. The role involves investigating planning control breaches, conducting site visits, and taking enforcement actions to address unauthorized developments. This position requires collaboration with various departments, stakeholders, and the public to ensure compliance with planning policies. Responsibilities also include preparing reports, serving legal documents, representing the council in legal settings, and contributing to policy development. Additionally, the officer will mentor junior staff and ensure all actions are compliant with relevant legislation.
