Role

Main Purpose of the job:

Provide efficient, modern, and appropriate administrative support to the Council’s Senior Leadership Team through direct support to an Executive Director and line management of two Executive Support Officers. Act as a trusted partner and adviser to an Executive Director, supporting them in making well-informed decisions. Drive and champion the priorities and policy objectives of the Directorate. Develop strong strategic relationships to ensure Directors are well-prepared for management responsibilities. Collaborate with the Chief Executive’s division to model best practices and promote culture change. Coordinate the smooth operation of the Directorate by synthesizing complex information and ensuring efficient processes aligned with the organization.

Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties:

  • Adapt services to meet changing needs and monitor effective delivery.
  • Ensure continuous service improvement with creative solutions.
  • Manage people resources according to operational needs and standards.
  • Oversee a team supporting the Executive Director and draft high-quality reports and communications.
  • Conduct research and briefings, lead projects, and maintain awareness of Directorate issues.
  • Facilitate meetings, manage diaries, forward planning, and coordinate cross-directorate information.
  • Handle council questions, information requests, and enquiries.
  • React to demands and deadlines, provide team cover, and develop procedures.
  • Interact professionally with internal and external contacts, including senior council and public officials.

An experienced administrative professional capable of supporting senior leaders, managing a small team, and collaborating across diverse groups. You are adept at strategic planning, communication, and maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.
